To celebrate its 17th anniversary, Hong Kong Culture House General Store continues its deep passion for Hong Kong pop culture, centered on an appreciation for nostalgic elements. This time, in collaboration with Hong Kong visual artist Rex Koo (Gu Peiran), the store launches the 'Hong Kong Diva' series, featuring four legendary divas from Hong Kong’s 1980s and 1990s music scene, extending the concept of his iconic comic series 'Hairy People.' The designs incorporate the imaginative concept of 'humans evolving during the Ice Age to be covered entirely in fur,' blending fur with clothing to recreate each diva’s iconic stage looks. The artwork is cleverly integrated into fashion pieces, capturing not only the divas’ lifelike silhouettes but also carrying cultural memories.

'HONG KONG DIVA' Series Product Introduction

HONG KONG DIVA Portrait Hawaiian Shirt   -  HKD $798

This is the flagship product of the collaboration between Culture House and Rex Koo, themed around the signature looks of Hong Kong’s four legendary divas. Through vivid colors and exaggerated illustrative language, it recreates the glamorous energy of 1990s stage performances. Rex Koo interweaves portraits with stage elements, creating a visual tension reminiscent of live concerts—nostalgic yet avant-garde.

The fabric is made of Cotton Rayon, lightweight and soft with a matte finish, evoking a subtle, retro ambiance. This material is not only comfortable to wear but also enhances the nostalgic atmosphere.

The overall design functions both as apparel and wearable artwork, allowing wearers to carry stage memories into daily life.

The scarf’s pattern is based on a radial structure, meticulously using the golden ratio to evenly distribute the four divas, each showcasing their commanding stage presence and radiance. The overlapping illustrations of the figures create a strong visual rhythm. The design team studied the iconic looks of each superstar, deeply admiring the contributions of 1990s stylists, ensuring this nostalgic sentiment continues.

The scarf is intentionally designed in a larger 65x65cm size, suitable as a headscarf, neck scarf, or waist accessory—both collectible and a must-have fashion item, blending culture and aesthetics.
